Claire’s Walthamstow meetup

Hah, I wrote this on Saturday, having just got back from Claire’s Walthamstow fabric swap and shopping meetup. I was so tired I forgot to press publish. But it was so much fun!

I got some wonderful things in the swap. Thanks Karen, Jane, Rachel and Zoe!

Patterns from the swap

And some gorgeous fabric…

Orangey-red cotton for a shirt dress.

Amazing acid green, black, and white chiffon print. This is probably going to be a Vogue 1240 for a wedding I’m going to this summer.

And this pink, green, and red peacock feather print which is going to be a maxi dress.

But best of all, lots of chatting about sewing and fabric with like-minded sewists. List below shamelessy cut-n-pasted from the wonderfully organised Claire. She had a clipboard. And pictures of everyone. And maps. And a tape measure. And cake. Two sorts of cake.

Thanks everyone for a great day. And especial thanks to Claire for organising it – you are a star!

  1. Nice. Looks like you picked up some goodies. V8548 is a really cool pattern. I might even make it some day XD It was one of the first patterns I bought a couple of years ago and I’m still sitting on it..

  2. Lovely to meet you yesterday! That peacock fabric is going to make one fab maxi dress, can’t wait to see it!

  3. Looks like you had lots of fun. I was going to ask if I could come along too, then remembered we had planned to visit some friends on that day (blast…) Another time, if that would be okay? I’m only about 45 mins from the west side of London (Walthamstow, no idea, but who’s counting?!)

    Your stuff looks great, Catherine.

  4. It was really lovely to meet you Catherine! Your black and white dress is one of the nicest handmade garments I’ve EVER seen! You are one very talented lady. Hope to see you again before long,

    All the best

  5. Hey darling,

It was so nice to meet you last week. I absolutely loved your monochrome dress it was giving me visions of working for Mary Quant on Carnaby Street 🙂 That peacock material is fabulous. Ooh by the way I found some purple lace in Brighton and I’m now currently running up my first playsuite eek!

    Hope to see you soon,
    xxx
